GEBANG PALACE/ISTANA GEBANG

Gebang
palace is located in Sultan Agung street number 69. Gebang palace is Soekarno’s
family home. Gebang palace was built in 1,3 hektar consists of main part,
kitchen, pavilion 1, original house GMI, pavilion 2 PETA and art house. In the
past, Soekarno’s families who live in Gebang Palace are Soekarno’s father Raden
Soekemi Sosrodihardjo, Soekarno’s mother Ida Aju Njoman Rai and Soekarno’s
sister Sukarmini/Ms. Wardoyo. Bung Karno stayed at Gebang palace only on
holiday. We can found so many things in Gebang palace there are, picture of
Bung Karno’s families, bedroom, chairs and other object such as old-fashioned
typewriter, radio and telephone.
In
Gebang palace there is an old well where the water was fairly pure and is
believed have miracle. The visitors can ask that water free but if there are
visitors who gives money there is a box and it’s become souvenir from Gebang
Palace.
In
1943, Gebang Palace was inhabited by Soekarmini and her second husband,
wardoyo. This couple doesn’t blessesed children so they live with Soekarmini’s
children with her first husband, Puguh. When Mrs. Wardoyo passed away, Gebang
was selling in internet. But, Indonesia’s government bought in 2011. On January
7, 2012 Gebang opened for national tour with 30 workers.
